Twenty-five students were selected by their teachers to be honored as those students who demonstrated the most traits of being a respectful person. During the school year the different traits of Character Counts will be celebrated. For February the trait was Respect. Kindergarteners honored were Fabrizio Angeli, Phoenix Barrera, Stephanie Estrada, Abram Fuentes and Abraham Perez. First graders were Roberto Alvarado, Korina Carrasco, Daniel Lemus and Ruby Morales. Second graders were Justus Furlough, Acacia Llamas, Ahriana Martinez and Alexandria Martinez. Third graders were Katelyn Ahumada, Hannah Arredondo, Erik Barajas, Druw Galido and Yessenia Ruiz. Fourth graders were Izabella Barrera, Tanya Diaz and Jordan Munoz. Fifth graders were Sandye Espinoza, Juliet Leto and Adam Morales.

Second graders were Anthony Barragan, Shayla Echevarria, Frida Rivas, Samantha Rubio and Erick Vielmas. Third graders were Philip Guzman, David Lopez, Priscilla Ortega, Jeremy Perez and Francisco Rincon. Fourth graders were Robert Barajas, Nicole Lievanos and Juliana Valle. Second graders were Alexander Chacon, Ariana Kosmicki, GIovanny Moran, Ashley Torres and Vincent Vasquez. Third graders were Isabella Anguiano, Krystal Duran, Miguel Gonzalez, Joseph Leon and Jose Navarro. Fourth graders were Alonso Aguayo, Evin Menendez and Ernesto Navarro. Fifth graders were Alyssa Alcala, Carlos Garcia and Natalie Munoz.
Monday - Stand Up to Bullying - Wear crazy socks to stand up to bullying
Tuesday - Be a Super Friend - Wear a cape and help save friends from bullying
Wednesday - Stand Up and Stop Bullying - Wear red to represent "stop" bullying
Thursday - There is safety in numbers so stand up and stick together - Dress alike with as many friends as possible
Friday - Include students who are left out - Wear a sport or game shirt and try to include someone new in a game

Kindergarteners honored were Abram Fuentes, Sarah Gomez, Karoline Llamas, John Paul Marin and Isaiah Quevedo. First Graders were Erick Adame, Roberto Alvarado, Juan Contreras and Gabriela Llamas. Second Graders were Alyssa Davis, Diana Garcia, America Flores, Jocelyn Hughes and Ariana Lemus. Third Graders were Solango Gallo, Isaiah Lopez, Christian Mendez, Ivette Rodriguez and Natalie Viramontez . Fourth Graders were Anika-Renee Herrera, Cristal Rodriguez and Daniela Sandoval. Fifth Graders were Jacqueline Beltran, Alma Flores and Alexis Zacarias.
In celebration of Red Ribbon/Character Counts week a school-wide poster contest was held. The contest winners are kindergarten-Patrick Miranda, first grade-George Hurtado, second grade-Acacia Llamas, third grade-Arwen Llamas, fourth grade-Brianna Chavez and fifth grade-Gabriella Hernandez. On Thursday, October 6, 2011, Student Council Elections were held at Rivera Elementary. Rivera's President will be Rene Gallegos, Vice President will be Samantha Rodriguez, Historian will be Alexis Gallegos, Treasurer will be Jared Zuniga and Secretary will be Nya Marquez.
